Bikeshare by RIDE Solutions Expands to Salem

Bikeshare by RIDE Solutions has increased the regional reach of its bikeshare program with the relocation of two stations to the City of Salem.  The new stations are located in Downtown Salem in front of the library along Main St, and at the Eddy Avenue greenway entrance.
At the July 19 opening of the Downtown Salem station, Salem Vice Mayor Jane Johnson said, “We are so excited to have bikeshare come to Salem.  As our downtown continues to grow and transform into an even more vibrant urban center, we look forward to amenities like bikeshare to make it easy for Salem residents to access recreation and transportation without having to drive.”
As part of the broader Bikeshare by RIDE Solutions system, the Salem stations can be used by existing members under their current memberships.  Rented bikes can be checked out and returned to either Salem station, or ridden between the Salem and existing Roanoke City or Vinton stations.
“RIDE Solutions is thrilled to continue the regional expansion of the valley’s bikeshare system,” said RIDE Solutions Director Jeremy Holmes.  “With the addition of these two stations, Roanoke City, Vinton, and Salem are all part of the same network.”
The Downtown Salem station is made possible through funding from Freedom First Credit Union, who has been a sponsor of Bikeshare by RIDE Solutions since its inception in May of 2017.
