Margaret-Hunter Wade Named Director of Public Affairs

Chesapeake, VA – Cox Communications recently announced that Margaret-Hunter Wade has been named director of public affairs for Virginia. Wade will provide strategic direction and oversight for Cox Virginia’s media relations, strategic alliances and community affairs.

“To fill this important role from within is an exciting testament to our Virginia talent and to Margaret-Hunter’s outstanding work and leadership,” says Nneka Chiazor, vice president of government and public affairs. “Margaret-Hunter is an accomplished professional as well as a respected leader. Wade brings to this role more than a decade of public affairs and community relations experience. She joined Cox in 2007 as a public affairs specialist and was promoted to public affairs manager in 2013. Last year, she took on expanded responsibilities as public and government affairs manager. Prior to coming to Cox, Wade served as executive director for The Arts Council of the Blue Ridge.
 
She is a member of the Public Relations Society of America and the Junior League of Roanoke Valley and serves on the board of directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Virginia as well as on the United Way of Roanoke Valley’s Early Learning Strategies steering committee.
Wade earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and mass communication from Washington and Lee University and holds a certificate in professional leadership from the Batten Leadership Institute at Hollins University. 
 
She will continue to be based in Roanoke where she lives with her husband and two young sons.
